Even under the best of circumstances, maintaining motivation can be a challenge. One of the best ways to keep you going strong when times get tough is to define your “why.”
DEFINE YOUR MOTIVATION
What’s Your Why: #WhatsYourY
Why do you do what you do? Whether that’s getting up early in the morning to train when you’re tired or finding the energy to push through one more rep when you want to quit, staying focused on your “why” can help you stay motivated all year round.
We have been asking our amazing ambassadors to share some insight into their true motivation. Their stories are inspiring to say the least.
Carli Lloyd Doesn’t Let Herself Get Comfortable Being Comfortable
What keeps Carli Lloyd motivated? A daily commitment to getting better in every facet of her life, and never letting herself be comfortable with being comfortable.
“My why is being addicted to being better every single day. Just becoming the best that I can be… as a soccer player, as a friend, as a sister as a wife. I just feel that there’s always things that I can continuously be better at. And it’s not being comfortable with being comfortable. I”ll be trying to be better until the day I die. That’s just who I am and what I stand for.”
Aaron Gordon Strives to be the Best Person He Can Possibly Be
For Orlando Magic star and Team Yolked member, Aaron Gordon, nutrition is very important to be at the top of his game. “I like to think of my body as a machine, so you have to put the right fuel in the machine for the machine to work at optimal efficiency.”
YOLKED is a huge part of that.
But, Aaron has big ambitions that transcend the basketball court. What drives his motivation and excellence?
“I do this to be free. I do everything to be free. Whether it’s spiritual, meditation and enlightenment. Playing basketball or giving money, everything that I do is to have that freedom and alleviate suffering. And to be the best person I can possibly be in the time that I’m here.”
Jordan White: Motivation for High Performance
Aaron Gordon’s celebrity personal trainer, Jordan White, strives to live a high performance lifestyle every day. “White believes that training goes far deeper than the physical aspects.
“I am a firm believer that movement is medicine. I strive to live a high performance lifestyle day in and day out. And training helps me sustain this lifestyle; I want to do it as long as I can. But, working out and training is far deeper than the physical aspects. Fitness helps me relieve stress, brings me mental clarity, spiritual stability and happiness through the hard work and dedication it takes to stay consistent”
“Fitness has encouraged me to improve in every facet of life. If I could travel and share my experiences and teach how movement truly is medicine – even if it only helps one person take the right steps toward improving their quality of life – I have done my job as a coach and a fitness professional.”
