Ultra-OCR Man Gets YOLKED® For Charity

Fitness-Recovery Connection

Recovery is important for success in fitness.

There’s no doubt about that, especially for athletes that race long multiple times a year. YOLKED Ambassador and Professional Obstacle Course Racer, Evan Perperis, knows this as well as anyone.

If you want to get stronger you need to train hard and recover faster with YOLKED.

However, Evan wasn’t always an obsessive ultra-endurance athlete but was completely mediocre in sports growing up, as he talks about in his newest book “Ultra-OCR Man: From Special Forces Soldier to Record Setting Professional Obstacle Course Racer.”

Special Forces to OCR

Growing up as a non athletic child obsessed with superheroes and action movies, he decided to join the Army.  After four years of physical training while at college, he was commissioned and proceeded with his career in the military.  Over the next several years he would spend a cumulative 44 months deployed overseas in combat zones, serve as a Special Forces officer and eventually find the sport of OCR.

Pushing the Limits

In the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) world, Evan is known for his ultra-endurance feats that are often self-created to push the limits of the human body.

  • In 2016, he attempted to run a marathon length OCR for seven days in a row.
  • In 2017, he attempted to finish on the podium at all four 24 hour OCRs in the USA.
  • In 2018, he attempted to multi-lap the hardest short course OCR, Conquer The Gauntlet for a full 48 hours.
  • In 2019, he set out to run 24 hours of treadmill running and obstacles (one mile run on a treadmill plus four obstacles, repeated for a full day).

All of this while pushing a busy race schedule that has led him to 44 podium finishes including several at the international, regional championship and world championship levels.
