What's Your "Y"
Interview with Justin Crump, Pitcher with the San Francisco Giants Organization
Tell us about your journey
I have been training for baseball since I was about 14 years old. Since college and COVID, my training took a different path and I learned different movement patterns that lead to me becoming a better athlete for baseball.
YOLKED has helped me gain more muscle and my recovery time has shrunk, thanks to their incredible product.
Who has been your main source of motivation over the years?
My main source of motivation has been my mother. For seven years she has been battling different obstacles and her drive has driven me to push myself beyond my limits.
Without her, I honestly would not be where I am today in my career.
Where do you find more motivation: doubters or supporters?
I easily find more motivation in doubters.
Those who do not believe in me drive me to work and train harder. My end goal is to prove them wrong and become the best I possibly can!
What is the biggest mental challenge you have had to face in your sport and how have you conquered that?
My biggest challenge was in college when I missed my junior and senior year due to elbow surgeries. Then I continued to find bad luck and missed my first year and a half in pro ball. I ended up rehabbing and am now pitching the best I ever have.
What do you do to make sure you are physically and mentally prepared for competition?
I always try to have a plan that I stick to. Whether it's before a game or before practice, I always have a plan on how I am going to attack the day.
Describe your recovery strategies. How do you know if those recovery strategies are working?
My recovery strategies have changed since COVID first hit. I was always bouncing back and forth on different products and never could find one that benefited me the most. Then, I got out to spring training and my teammate told me about YOLKED.
My body has never felt better, and my recovery is twice as fast. YOLKED will forever be my go-to product.
What's Your "Y"? What keeps you going and training as hard as you do?
My "Y" will always be my family.
I came from a family who did not have a lot of money and I saw how hard my parents worked and how much they pushed me. I will always train hard for them because I feel like I am doing them a dishonor by not giving it a 100%.
Where do you see yourself as an athlete in 5 years?
I see myself pitching in the world series. The world has not seen me and has always doubted me. I am going to prove them wrong and continue to succeed on a higher level.
Favorite motivational quote.
“My family is my strength and my weakness. Through them I rise and only through them shall I fall.”
YOLKED is by far the best addition I have made to my nutrition. It allows me to get the most out of my training and it eventually leads to me becoming a better athlete!
