What's Your "Y"

Interview with Donovan Jackson, First Team High School All-American, 5-Star Recruit, Ohio State Buckeyes

How has your sport journey evolved?

My sport journey has been hectic early on. After receiving my first scholarship offer in the eighth grade I was placed onto the national stage of recruiting.

Now signed to Ohio State, I’m thankful for the process that I endured with my loved ones.

Who has been your main source of motivation or inspiration?

My parents

Where do you find more motivation: doubters or supporters?

I find more motivation around my coaches. They taught me knew skills to be successful and have guided me every step of the way.

What is the biggest mental challenge you've had to face in your sport and how have you conquered that?

My biggest mental challenge was self doubt.

I was able to overcome this by proving to myself that I belonged.

What do you do to make sure you're physically and mentally prepared for competition?

I make sure my body is in the best condition possible in the off-season so it can withstand the hits during the season.

Describe your recovery strategies. How do you know if those recovery strategies are working?

My recovery strategies consist of ice baths and lots of YOLKED!

What's Your "Y"? What keeps you going and training as hard as you do?

My “Y” is to strive to become the best at everything I do. Whether it be on the field or off.

Where do you see yourself as an athlete in 5 years?

I see myself in five years fulfilling my dreams of making it to the NFL.
